PRESS RELEASE: First-Ever International Women's Day Virtual Concert Featuring Pop Artist Fletcher to Raise Funds for Under-Resourced Girls as Tomorrow's Business Leaders, Innovators

Call for Parents, Employers, Teens to Change the Trajectory and Celebrate Women

New York, NY – The nonprofit Girls With Impact, the nation’s only live, online business program for young women, today announced its first International Women’s Day Virtual Concert featuring female pop artist Fletcher and another soon-to-be-announced performer.

The concert, held on March 8th, will raise funds to ultimately equip up to 1 million under-resourced girls (ages 12-21)  as tomorrow’s business leaders and innovators while also celebrating the accomplishments of young women. The event will also bring families and companies together, offering a way for us all to collectively come together and celebrate diversity, leadership, and innovation during COVID.

“There’s never been a more important time to change the trajectory for women,” said Jennifer Openshaw, CEO of Girls With Impact. “From the comfort of home, companies and families will be able to truly make a difference this International Women’s Day.”

She added, “A small donation provides Americans with a triple whammy – equipping under-served girls in business, bringing meaning to families and employees, and changing the trajectory by creating opportunities for women to lead at the top.”

Employers looking for a way to celebrate and recognize women may participate as a corporate partner, featuring a dedicated pre-concert gathering with employees and an opportunity to recognize those advancing diversity and women.

Despite training over 2,000 young female leaders since COVID hit in March of 2020, a tremendous gender gap and digital gap exists in numerous after-school programs -- both in keeping students engaged and advancing with online classes and workforce readiness skills. Girls With Impact offers solutions for young women to turn their passions into a business and create a way for their to earn a mini-MBA right from homes.

“Girls With Impact helped me keep a schedule of something to do during quarantine,” said graduate Victoria Navarrete,17.

“The program helped me get my idea launched,” said student Neha Shukla, 15, who developed SixFeetApart, a wearable sensor device to keep people safe from the COVID virus (featured in The New York Times). “The network, support, and collaboration with other girls has been so helpful.”
